BAFS Team announcement

The BAFS Team is pleased to announce that Alex Chan Hoi Chi (4G) and Marcus Yau Chun Hei (4G) have achieved excellence in the FedEx Express/JA International Trade Challenge 2021 – Hong Kong Finals held on 28 th January 2021. Their team, Alcus, was one of the three Hong Kong Winning Teams, and they will represent Hong Kong at the Asia Pacific Finals which will be held on 1-3 March 2021 via Zoom.

Alex and Marcus’s winning idea was to create an anti-theft backpack named “Safety MTB (Meant-to-be) Backpack”, targeting pickpocketing and robbery in Cambodia. The second team, named “Float”, composed of Daniel Chun Ka Hong (4C) and Anson Kwok Yee Shun (4G), who also advanced to the Hong Kong finals proposed a water transport kit named “Floatbike”, which is a self-sustainable water transport allowing Cambodians to commute conveniently.

Co-organized by Junior Achievement and FedEx Express, the competition aims to nurture students’ entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen. The scoring criteria for the competition includes the originality of the design and the feasibility of business strategies.

Due to the rescheduling of the competition this year, it was the first time that our Form 4 boys represented the school in this regional competition, as our Form 6 boys focus their energies on preparing for the upcoming HKDSE exams. Both teams demonstrated the willingness to challenge themselves and commitment to teamwork.

Congratulations to the teams for their achievements. The students would like to express their sincere gratitude to their teacher advisor Ms. Helen Law for her guidance throughout the competition. We sincerely wish Alex and Marcus the best of luck in the Asia Pacific finals!

La Salle College Aerospace Laboratory
La Salle College Aerospace Laboratory

La Salle College attaches great importance to "whole-person education". Recently, the first school aviation laboratory in Hong Kong is set up in our campus to promote the "Aerospace" project. It has received support from old boys. Students can experience professional aviation training comparable to real piloting and explore the scientific theory of aircraft operation.

The Aerospace Laboratory is equipped with a full motion Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved advanced aviation training device, the FMX Redbird. These can provide a realistic training environment like 3-axis motion and wrap-around visual effect. The Aerospace Laboratory also features six PC desktop flight simulators which provide ample opportunities for one-on-one.

All this sophisticated equipment lays a solid foundation for the implementation of the "Aerospace" programmes. La Salle College Aerospace Laboratory, together with the Hong Kong Aerospace Leaders Association, offers three tier courses to students: (1) introductory aviation course; (2) advanced aviation course; and (3) solo pilot training course.

The School community is looking forward to the inauguration day – to lift off!
