Absentees during Assessment

Forseen and unforeseen Absense from Assessment

1.  If a student is sick and unable to attend an assessment (including oral examinations) parents/guardians are to inform the school in the first instance.

2. A student absent from a assessment is to provide documentation such as a medical certificate and letter of explaination on the following day to school.  The Principal has the final decision whether to accept the reason for absence.

3. Students who cannot provide the school with sound evidence would be conisdered as missing the assessment. A zero mark will be given for the assessment missed.  Mis-reading the examination timetable is not an acceptable reason.

4. If a student does not turn up for more than half of the assessment, no mark will be given for the whole subject.  The subject will be recorded as an absence if the absence is approved by the Prinicipal.

5.  Please refer to School Diary for consequences for an absence.  In the case of a calculated grade an average mark will be obtained by dividing the total less the total for the missed assessment.  The student will be given his order of merit together with other students.
