To deepen students’ understanding of COP30 and nurture future leaders, HKRI supports the Conservancy Association’s UN Climate Change Conference COP30 Secondary School Student Ambassadors Training Programme.
Five of our students participated in this meaningful programme:
C. Liu (F.3)
J. Yu (F.4)
N. Leung (F.4)
B. Ng (F.4)
B. Cheng (F.5)
During the programme, the ambassadors explored the relationship between native plants and pollinating insects at DBee Oasis—Hong Kong’s first urban oasis for pollinators. They learned about bee ecology, discovered the unique mangrove ecosystem of Discovery Bay, and developed a deeper understanding of biodiversity’s role in ecosystem stability.
At DB Community Green Square, the ambassadors participated in hands-on activities, including planting potted plants, group discussions, and designing gardens that incorporated ecological conservation.
Two ambassadors received special recognition for their contributions:
B. Cheng was interviewed by the Hong Kong Economic Journal to share his views on how urban development impacts biodiversity.
J. Yu joined RTHK Green Teen Work to discuss his mission as a COP30 ambassador and the insights gained from the training programme.

Our ambassadors are excited to share their knowledge with the school community, inspiring teachers and students to focus on environmental protection and climate change. Together, we are planting the seeds for a sustainable future!
