On 23 June, our school’s Catholic teachers gathered for a spiritually enriching retreat at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel in Tai O (大澳永助聖母小堂). The retreat provided an opportunity to reflect on our calling as teachers and strengthen our spiritual foundation in the Catholic faith.
Under the guidance of our retreat spiritual director, Rev. Jojo Peter Ancheril, CMF, the retreat offered a schedule filled with prayer, contemplation, and fellowship.
We went on a pilgrimage to Yi O (二澳) by boat. During this pilgrimage, we were able to connect with nature, and contemplate the depth of our vocation as Catholic educators. As we navigated the waterways of Tai O, we were also reminded of our own journeys, not just as educators, but also as disciples of Christ.
We also celebrated mass at the Chapel. With hearts full of gratitude and devotion, we teachers came together in worship and received the Eucharist, drawing strength and inspiration for our vocation for teaching - fostering a strong sense of community and the role of teachers in nurturing students' spiritual growth - within the context of the Catholic Church.
It is our hope that this retreat will continue to be a beacon of light and a source of strength for teachers in the years to come.
We carry out training for leadership and communication skills for junior form students. This year, F. 2 students took up all the committee roles to organize a series of meetings and workshops for F.1 and F.2 students to brush up their English public speaking and daily communication skills.
We are honoured to have Br Thomas and Mr Tong present souvenirs on 1 st June to our committee members and to the winners of our own international speech and evaluation contests. We appreciate very much their unconditional support for our team.
We are grateful for the hard work of committee members and the guidance by the teacher advisors: Ms Sina Lo, Ms Jenny Chan and Ms Jennes Chan and the continuous support from seasoned Toastmasters: Ms Marianne Yeo, Ms Deborah Yu and the Toastmasters Community of District 89. The programme for 2022-2023 was run and completed successfully.
We look forward to our school shining on stage in the forthcoming Hong Kong Interschool Speech Contest in July.
